Location: A park in the western part of South Portland, this facility and park are located at the end of New York Avenue.
Open to off-leash dog walking:
From 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Open to the public: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Notes and considerations:
-
There are ball fields here that are fenced off, but you can walk with your dog(s) in a loop around the side and behind the fields. The paths are mowed by the city, and if you go through a short path to the woods there is an old tote road that goes along the Scarborough Connector to a residential area further down New York Avenue. -
No dogs on the playing fields please! There is plenty of space in the back for fetch and walking. -
SoPoDOG organizes trash cleanups in all of the open spaces on the first Sunday of each month. Sign up for an e-mail reminder so you can help. -
There are no doggie bag dispensers so please bring a bag with you. Also take a spare to share with another dog walker. There are trash cans in the park. -
Please be a good neighbor and limit noise such as yelling and excessive dog barking, carry out all trash and keep your dog under restraint as defined in the city’s code of ordinance.
