Notes and considerations:
-
This is a 40 acre park with two ponds in a wooded setting. The park does not have physical boundaries so be careful to keep your dog in your sight at all times. -
There are many wild animals in the park including chipmunks, squirrels, porcupines, turtles, birds, deer and skunk. Please be respectful of bird-watchers and individuals who are fishing at the ponds. -
Located in the lower field there is a Community Garden. Please do not allow your dog to enter the garden or disrupt it. -
SoPoDOG organizes trash cleanups in all of the open spaces on the first Sunday of each month. Sign up for an e-mail reminder so you can help. -
There are doggie bag dispensers at the entrance of the park. Please use these bags to clean up after your dog. It is always a good idea to bring an extra bag to the park because sometimes they run out. Also take a spare to share with another dog walker. -
Please remember there are private homes abutting the park as well as busy public roads. This is also a popular area where families come to fish and walk and people tend their gardens. Everyone has the right to enjoy the open space. Please be a good neighbor and limit noise such as yelling and excessive dog barking, carry out all trash and keep your dog under restraint as defined in the city’s code of ordinance.
